Job Description
Summary/Objective
The mission of the Southern University of New Orleans (SUNO) Department of Human Resources is to provide services to the faculty, staff and external customers by developing and implementing employment, compensation benefits, employee relations, professional development, and human resources information systems, which will attract, enhance and retain energetic and highly qualified faculty and staff employees. The Office Coordinator must practice high ethical and moral standards, practice excellent professional behavior and commit to the department objectives.
The Office Coordinator position is a confidential position. Confidentiality is required of the Office Coordinator to ensure and maintain the confidentiality of employee information. Certain data such as age, sex, religion, race or national origin must remain confidential as they are protected by federal law. Social security numbers, birth dates, home addresses and spousal information must also remain confidential within the employee personnel file.
The Office Coordinator will be responsible for providing first class customer service to staff, faculty members and vendors. The Office Manager needs to be computer literate. Must be show initiative and be team player with assisting with other duties as mandated by the department.

- Knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities
- Assists the HR Analyst with the management of employee data in the Banner HR platform.
- Responsible for organize hard and soft copies of employee records (i.e., personnel files, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced computer skills, including data entry, data processing, communication tools and payroll and human resources software
- Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking
- Review and select resumes during hiring processes and update in the appropriate portal.
- Coordinates and assist with various workshops and job fairs.
- Conduct exit interviews as needed.
- Assist with and participate in seminars, workshops, additional HR training, and conferences.
- Assist with any issues and answer questions about Banner.
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills

Required education and experience
- High school diploma required.
- Two to five years of office administration experience required.
- Customer service skills and techniques.
- General knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the Human Resources Department
- Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to keep up with differing UT deadlines.
Preferred education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience in human resources preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SPHR and/or CEBS certification a plus.
- Completion of specialized certification or training in Human Resources is desired
- Experience with BANNER human resource modules is desired.
