Southern University at New Orleans’ (herein also referred to as SUNO and/or the University) Student Code of Conduct is published for the expressed purpose of providing to the University community, students in particular, the published and official policies, rules and regulations regarding students’ rights and responsibilities, student code of conduct, and disciplinary, judicial and appellate procedures.
 
All information contained herein sets forth, in a concise and uniform manner, responsibilities which members of the University community are indebted to one another. The Student Code of Conduct also sets forth administrative and conduct procedures whereby those students who are accused of violating rules, policies, and regulations may be afforded due process and fair and just outcomes. Southern University at New Orleans is committed to protecting the full constitutional rights of its students. Southern University at New Orleans and the members of its community have equal obligations to one another in protecting the educational environment. The University has equal obligations to protect the integrity of its educational mission and the interests of its student body. 
 
The following policies, regulations, and sanctions have been established to protect the rights and interests of all members of the University community. The Student Code of Conduct is updated periodically, as laws in higher education change and state laws regarding the rights of students attending a state institution in Louisiana are enforced. The current Student Code of Conduct supersedes any previously published Student Code of Conduct. It is intended for internal distribution (i.e., use within the University community).
