International Student Services
Welcome to SUNO!!
Greetings from the Office of International Affairs at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). We are committed to providing exceptional support to our international community, particularly F-1 students and their F-2 dependents. Our team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless academic experience, offering guidance on immigration regulations, and fostering a welcoming environment. The IAO staff (Designated School Official (DSO) provides information and programs about the campus and community, F1 immigration-related opinion, cross-cultural adjustment assistance, advocacy and general support. We assist with F-1 student visa maintenance, STEM OPT, OPT, and CPT, as well as provide resources for F-2 dependents, including information on employment restrictions and maintaining status. Our office is here to help international students and their families navigate university life, ensuring their academic and personal success at SUNO. Emergency support after business hours (such as being detained at an airport) is available.
New international students are required to report to The International Affairs Office, University Center, 3rd Floor, Suite 305, for passport check-in, as well as for immigration and adjustment sessions prior to registering for classes. Students’ are urged to read the immigration responsibilities stated on page 3 of 3 (Instructions to Students) of the SEVIS I-20.
