Director, Marketing & Communications

The Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Office of Communications works with the University community to advance the SUNO brand and reputation. Through the Office of Communications, we tell the story of the University positively to bring awareness, recruit students and shine a spotlight on the many achievements of the University, and its students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The Office of Communications handles multiple tasks to connect with local and national media outlets, University departments, colleges, and organizations, and the HBCU audience.

 

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for working with the Executive Cabinet, Deans, and departments regarding marketing and promotion of the University.  The Director will work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management to develop and manage a coordinated marketing plan to address the University’s enrollment and retention goals, which includes expanding marketing efforts through the utilization of media outlets, print materials, radio, television, the internet, and social media.  In this role, the incumbent also works closely with a diverse group of University partners to coordinate marketing efforts for the academic departments, promote programs and events on campus, and oversee the production of all graphic and marketing materials.

Director, Certification Programs & Residency

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development, the Director will develop, continuously improve, and sustain the Teacher Certification and Residency program. Will serve as the lead liaison to all partner school districts, organizing a collaborative resident selection process, facilitating mentor recruitment and selection, and supporting the effectiveness of Mentor Teachers who work with residents.

Assistant Director, Financial Aid

The Assistant Director shares the administrative responsibilities of all financial aid programs with the Director. This position serves as part of the leadership team in Financial Aid and participates in office-wide goal setting and strategic planning. The responsible individual must possess a thorough working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations governing the awarding and disbursement of financial aid. Responsible for ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. The Assistant Director is responsible for federal work study program and alternative loans.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

Nursing Skills Simulation Lab Coordinator

As a professional staff person within the School of Nursing, the Nursing Skills Simulation Lab Coordinator (Lab Coordinator) provides support to all stakeholders of the School, including the Dean, faculty, staff, and students. The Lab Coordinator, ensures the effective and efficient operation of the lab, assesses and provides for meeting programmatic, and student needs, and oversees the operation of high, medium, and low fidelity technology to ensure safe and effective use of the simulation equipment.  This individual is expected to maintain the day-to-day operations of the laboratory while providing strong customer service that is professional, accurate, and timely.  The Nursing Skills Laboratory Simulation Coordinator reports to the Dean of Nursing.

Enrollment Communications Specialist

The Enrollment Management Department has responsibility for developing tactics in support of SUNO’s strategic growth initiatives.  To that end, customer service functions are the cornerstone for SUNO’s Enrollment Management Team. In this role, the Enrollment Communications Specialist (ECS) serves as the campus switchboard operator and provides exemplary customer service to callers of the University to include students and parents.  The ECS is a specialized professional who possesses knowledge of the enrollment management function in order to assist students and parents through the enrollment process.  This may include general admission and financial aid triage, provides information pertaining to students of account balances and payment options, and routing callers to the appropriate University representative.

Assistant Registrar

The Assistant Registrar is a functional expert with thorough knowledge of business practice, academic policy, compliance matters and operational procedure in the Office of the University Registrar with specialization in student services and customer service for the departments functions, especially those integrated with Enrollment Management. The Assistant Registrar is a proactive member of the managerial team, providing both oversight and support of day-to-day functions with the ability to resolve most complex escalated issues.  The Assistant Registrar is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and ensuring academic policies are followed and maintained, assuring the accuracy of student data/information stored in the current system of records (Banner) as well as supporting required reporting requirements. The Assistant Registrar is expected to leverage his/her functional SIS expertise to identify, recommend, and implement streamlined processes and improved services.

Executive Administrative Assistant (Enrollment Management)

The Division for Enrollment Management & Student Success complements the academic objectives of Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and provides support, services, and activities that contribute and facilitate critical learning and development.  Subsequently, the Executive Administrative Assistant (EAA) is a confidential, support professional with the responsibility of providing high-level of support to the Vice Chancellor.

Renewable Energy Management (REM) Program Coordinator

The Renewable Energy Management Program Coordinator (REM-PC) is a professional staff member who works with current and incoming students in exploring career options in the Renewable Energy Industry and helps them to acquire required credentials to succeed in the industry. The role of REM-PC is to recruit and enroll students in the REM program.  The REM-PC will advise REM participants so they may matriculate and graduate from SUNO within four to six years, recruit SUNO students to REM, collect data and input, and maintain accurate records of students’ degree audit by maintain close contact with each student’s faculty advisor.  The REM-PC will provide individual and group coaching sessions, which will address issues such as personal barriers, goal setting, academic mindset, anxiety concerns, avoiding procrastination, career coaching, address various academic and social issues, assist with scholarship opportunities, graduate school admission and other duties of the department.

Admissions Counselor/Recruiter

The Admissions Counselor/Recruiter serves as a field representative in student recruitment efforts for the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and to meet enrollment objectives by building, managing and maintaining a pre-defined recruitment territory. This individual will serve as the primary contact for local high school counselors and students, as well as coordinate recruiting efforts. The Counselor/Recruiter analyzes student requests and needs and cultivates prospects (traditional and non- traditional, international applicants) through participation in a number of recruitment of activities.  He/she will articulate admissions procedures and requirements to prospective students, parents, counselors, etc. and provides follow-up, reviews admission applications and other admission documents and admits eligible student in accordance with University's policies and procedures.

Director of Housing & Residential Life

The Director of Housing & Residence Life at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) position offers a unique and rewarding role within the division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. This is a 12-month, live-in position. The Director is responsible for providing strategic direction for the administrative, budgetary, facilities, operations, co-curricular and programmatic vision for student housing. This vision includes doubling our residential housing over the next 5 years and providing a transformational community living experience that supports student learning and development. Serials/Government Documents Librarian

Under the direction of the Library Director/Dean, this position is responsible for processing all of the Library’s serials and continuing resource publications acquired by the Library. The Serials Librarian is responsible for receiving newly-acquired materials into the Library’s Innovative Interfaces, Workflows system, and then processes the materials as necessary so that they are quickly available for use by the university’s faculty, students, and staff.

Under the direction of the Library Director/Dean, the Open Education Resource (OER) Librarian actively engages stakeholders in the awareness, use, adoption, and creation of open educational resources.  The Librarian will be empowered to develop OER programs in an environment with diverse student and faculty populations that could benefit from greater access to affordable educational materials.

Under the direction of the Library Director/Dean, this position is responsible for outreach, programming, and access services for Special Collections and Archives. The Outreach and Public Services Librarian provides educational, programmatic, and promotional outreach to faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, visiting scholars, and others whose research, teaching, communications, and learning activities benefit from engagement with Special Collections and Archives.

Instructor, School of Nursing

The nursing faculty position is primarily responsible for teaching in a traditional, face-to-face BSN program. It is desired that the incumbent has specific education, training and/or competence in nursing specialty areas. The Title III Program Coordinator assists the Executive Director on all matters regarding the Title III Programs and works closely with activity directors and provides training/workshops in regards to the development of program goals, measurable objectives, performance indicators, effective implementation strategies, and in preparing quantitative and qualitative reports, etc.

The Technical Writer-Research/Pre-Award Assistant will have the major responsibility for assisting the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs with researching, drafting, interpreting guidelines, coordinating, and monitoring the progress of all proposals to be submitted to federal, state, local, and Foundation sources.

The Office of Grants and Sponsored programs serves as the central headquarters for coordinating all grants, research projects and sponsored program activities.  The Director partners with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify, apply for, obtain resources in support of teaching, scholarship, research, and the university mission and the strategic plan.

Director of Student Services (College of Business & Public Administration)

The Office of Student Services is a unit within the College that advocates for its students.  As such, the Director of Student Services oversees the overall academic experience of CBA students to make certain they remain on track in their curricula.  The Director and staff work with students to set reasonable educational and career goals.  Subsequently, the Student Services staff meet individually with students to develop a plan/path towards graduation and successful careers.

Chief Disbursement Officer (Accounts Payable)

The Chief Disbursement Officer will manage all aspects of accounts payable (including vendor payment, student stipends and travel reimbursements, etc.). The Chief Disbursement Officer must address all vendor inquiries and work closely with the Chief Accountant Officer in resolving issues related to invoice payments.  He or she must be able to assimilate and organize a wide range of accounts payable and administrative tasks, meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize job duties. This position develops and maintains effective and harmonious working relationships the with end user departments, insuring cooperative efforts in accomplishing the shared goals and objectives in support of the institutional mission.

Budget Manager

The Budget Manager is a trusted member of the University’s Administration & Finance division that will manage the budgeting process and assist the leadership with strengthening its relationships with financial stakeholders.  In this role, the Budget Manager is required to analyze the University's budgets, liaise with external stakeholders, and produce reports on projections, costs, and expenditures.  The Budget Manager is adept at negotiations, business strategy, calculating key business indicators, and making financial decisions.

Assistant Professor, Cybersecurity

Faculty of the program are expected to be committed to the standards of teaching excellence.  This requirement will include the ability teach undergraduate courses which may include evening, weekend and/or hybrid courses; advise students; engage in teaching practices with an acute focus on documenting student learning; serve on faculty committees; attend departmental, faculty and other meetings, attend College convocations.  The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in cybersecurity and core computing courses. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and teaching experience in cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, programming, Linux, penetration testing, cloud security, cyber analytics, cyber risk management, cyber operations, contingency planning, and security architecture.
