Mission Statement:

The Office of Student Activities and Organizations is an essential part of Southern University at New Orleans. Its mission is to seek and create opportunities that inspire students to become active members of the campus and the community. This office serves as a liaison between the student body and the university. Providing students with a variety of opportunities to explore their academic, professional, political, social, cultural, recreational, spiritual, and community interests. Student Activities strives to enhance the lives of the students that we encounter daily and encourage those students to engage other students in elevating the student life experiences. Student organizations allow students to develop interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills in a supportive yet challenging environment. It’s our duty to encourage students to assume leadership roles and explore their interests.

Message from the Director of Student Activities and Organizations:

The office of Student Activities is home to The Student Government Association (SGA), special events, programs, student-led organizations, leadership development, and fraternity and sorority life. This office is committed to the student experience, and we are dedicated to providing transformative opportunities for engagement.

At Southern University at New Orleans, we encourage all students to become involved with registered student organizations and student leadership. This is a way to develop life-long skills and create memories with friends that will last a lifetime.

In addition to joining registered student organizations and being actively involved in student leadership. We also encourage all students to attend athletic events, pep rallies, and distinguished speaker series.

Sincerely,

Jamaal K. Williams
