Application and Criteria

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship


APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Complete the Robert Noyce Scholarship/Stipend Application
  2. Provide an unofficial copy of your transcript
  3. Provide two letters of recommendations (Recommendation Forms)
  4. Write a 250-word essay personal statement describing your educational and career goals
  5. Include a current resume
  6. Submit a copy of your driver’s license
  7. Submit a criminal background check

SELECTION CRITERIA

To apply for the Robert Noyce grant on January 15 and August 15 yearly, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled at Southern University at New Orleans
  • US citizenship or a Permanent Resident
  • Undergraduate STEM major (at least a Junior) or post-baccalaureate STEM majors or STEM Professional
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Pass Praxis II (content) for post-baccalaureate

 

You must also:

  • Pursue a major in STEM (Biology or Mathematics) that will serve as a specialized teacher in grades 9 through 12
  • Teach middle or high school for a minimum of two years for each year of scholarship/stipend support in a “high-need” school in the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS). Scholarship/Stipend monies must be returned if the Noyce Scholar does not complete the teaching requirement.
  • Complete the Monitoring and Enforcement of Compliance Contract
