About Center Namesake

Lt. General Russel L. Honoré

The Honore’ Center is named in recognition of a Louisiana hero and a proven leader, Lt. General Russel L. Honoré (U.S. Army, Retired), a native son who was widely praised for leading the federal government’s Task Force Katrina operation in the aftermath of the devastating hurricanes that struck the Gulf Coast in the summer of 2005.

His military career began with ROTC during his years attending Southern University.

General Honoré is currently a Senior Scientist with The Gallup Organization, and a leader of the Louisiana Green Party Movement. He also makes frequent TV appearances as a disaster preparedness consultant with CNN, the Cable News Network. His most recent book is Leadership In The New Normal: A Short Course, released in Fall 2012 by Acadian House Publishing.
