SUNO Passes La. GRAD Act
June 24, 2016
Southern University at New Orleans has scored 100 percent in all four performance standards of the Louisiana Granting Resources and Autonomy for Resources for Diplomas (GRAD) Act for Year 6. With these final Year 6 results, SUNO has met and/or surpassed the targeted measures for each year of the six-year performance objectives of the Act.
Dr. Lisa Mims-Devezin Appointed Interim Chancellor

Dr. Lisa Mims-Devezin has been appointed the Interim Chancellor of Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO), effective July 1, 2016. Dr. Mims-Devezin will fill the position left vacant after Chancellor Victor Ukpolo steps down June 30.
Chancellor Ukpolo to Officiate His Final Commencement

La. Gov. John Bel Edwards is the guest speaker for the 2016 Southern University at New Orleans Commencement at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7 in the Lakefront Arena. This year’s ceremony will be Chancellor Victor Ukpolo’s last. After leading the University for 10 years, Ukpolo will step down as Chancellor on June 30.
SUNO Competes Well In Outdoor Championships

For the second consecutive year, the Knights led all schools in event victories at the 2016 GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In the Women's Championship, the Lady Knights came in second place.
SUS Board Names Seventh SU Shreveport Chancellor

SUNO’s Enrollment Increases for the Spring 2016 Semester

According to final enrollment figures, 2,500 students have registered for the 2016 spring semester at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). This represents a one percent increase from the 2,455 students officially enrolled in Spring 2015.

Law enforcement veteran Bruce E. Adams has been hired as the new campus police chief at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). The Southern University System Board of Supervisors approved his appointment today.
