· Funding will support water quality studies to improve understanding of water quality issues and provide data to stakeholders to use for decision-making in their community. Approximately $4 million will be available for 4 to 5 projects. Project monitoring activities must be in water bodies within the eligible coastal counties of the five Gulf states.

NOFO Title: Trash Free Waters –Micro/ Nanoplastics in the Gulf of Mexico

· Funding will support innovative projects focused on preventing micro/nanoplastics from reaching waterways and removing microplastics from waterways. Approximately $5 million will be available for 8 to 12 projects. Project activities must take place in one or more of the five Gulf states AND be within the Gulf of Mexico watershed.

NOFO Title: Fisher-Led Aquatic Trash Prevention and Abatement in Urban and Inland Disadvantaged Communities

· Funding will support innovative approaches to work with fishers in disadvantaged communities, employing their expertise to develop community-engaged initiatives to remove, reduce, and prevent trash in waterways of common or public fishing spots and on surrounding land. Entities should work with fishers in multiple locations throughout the state. Approximately $3 million will be available for 5 projects; one in each Gulf state. Project activities must take place in ONE of the five Gulf states AND be within the Gulf of Mexico watershed.

· Funding will support a state-wide high school art and slogan competition focused on a reduction of plastic/trash, utilizing the winning artwork/slogan as well as community cleanups to educate the public on benefits of reducing trash. Approximately $3 million will be available for 5 projects; one in each Gulf state. Project activities must take place in ONE of the five Gulf states AND be within the Gulf of Mexico watershed.
