Job Description
Summary/Objective
Founded in 1956, the fully accredited Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) was founded as a branch unit of Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College in Baton Rouge (SUBR). SUNO continues to grow, striving to become better each year. Our campus housing is some of the newest in the New Orleans area. SUNO is approved by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to join the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and offers a full Intramural Sports Program. SUNO offers various challenging academic programs that will prepare its graduates for success after earning their diplomas. SUNO seeks students who are intellectually curious and hardworking. Our admissions staff provides guidance and support to help prospective students make important decisions about the future of their education.
The Admissions Recruiter serves as a part-time field representative in student recruitment efforts for the Office of Admissions and to meet enrollment objectives by building, managing and maintaining a pre-defined recruitment territory. The Recruiter analyzes student requests and needs and cultivates prospects (traditional and non-traditional, international applicants) through participation in a number of recruitment activities. He/she will articulate admissions procedures and requirements to prospective students, parents, counselors, etc., provide follow-up, review admission applications and other admission documents and admit eligible students in accordance with the University's policies and procedures.

- Responsible for planning and implementing activities to attract students to the University. Plan and implement off campus programs and recruitment activities.
- Attend high school, community college, and community-related recruitment programs.
- Submit regular reports of recruitment activities and results from recruitment events.
- Schedule and conduct campus tours.
- Correspond with prospective and admitted students. Advise prospective students on the admissions process.
- Provide information and answers to questions regarding specific functions in accordance with rules and regulations, policies and procedures of the Office of Admissions.
- Process admissions applications and ensures that the application fee has been received, all transcripts and supporting documents to complete the student application prior to evaluation.
- Input all applications and documents received and track applications on the student information system.
- Complete student outreach via e-mail and phone as well as other mediums to contact perspective students (i.e. via text, email, phone, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Education, Counseling, Public Relations or a related field is required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Three years of experience in Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounts or Registrar preferred.
- Banner experience preferred.
- Knowledge of SUNO operations is preferred.
- Experience with high-volume, multi-line call center experience preferred.
