SUNO To Host Benefit Reception

Actor Danny Glover To Attend SUNO’s Benefit Reception
For the National African American Reparations Committee

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Nov. 29, 2017 – Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) will host a benefit reception for members of the National African American Reparations Commission Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the SUNO Conference Center.

The reception will feature the following special guests: Danny Glover, actor; Samia Nkrumah, Ghanaian politician; Mireille Fanon Mendes-France, member of the UN Working Group on People of African Descent; and Dr. Julianne Malveaux, labor economist, author, commentator and former president of Bennett College.

In addition, cultural expressions will be provided by Sullivan Dabney Jr. & The Muzik Jazz Band, Chief Shaka Zulu and Michael “Quess” Moore.

Susan Henry, general manager of WBOK Radio Station, will serve as the mistress of ceremonies, and Dr. Clyde Robertson, director of the SUNO Center for African and African American Studies, will serve as host.

The total enrollment at SUNO has grown every year since Hurricane Katrina. Despite projections that the University's enrollment would only reach between 1,200 and 1,500 students in the spring of 2006, more than 2,000 students returned to campus. SUNO's current enrollment is 2,704 students.
