Lady Knight Point Guard Micah Brooks Named Newcomer of the Year

Micah Brooks, a 5-7 junior point guard from Mobile, AL, has been named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Newcomer of the Year. She led the conference in assists (4.7 per game) and finished second in steals (2.8 average per game). She also was the second leading scorer for the Lady Knights with an average of 13.3 points per game. Finally, Brooks was named to the All-GCAC Women’s Basketball Second Team and the All-Defensive Team.

In addition, senior Rayvin Miller, a 5-9 guard/forward from Shreveport, was named to the All-GCAC Women’s Basketball First Team for a second year. She also received the most votes for the All-Defensive Team, which was added this season. Freshman forward Ashari Shakir received an honorable mention for the All-Defensive Team.

SUNO Knight Joe Brown (a 6-8 senior center from August, GA) headlines the GCAC All-Defensive team and was named to the All-GCAC Men’s Basketball Second Team.

Ezekiel Brown (freshman guard) and Dominique Suggs (junior guard/forward) received honorable mentions for the All-GCAC Team. Brown also received an honorable mention for the All-Defensive Team.
