SUNO Hosts Benefit Reception

Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) will host a benefit reception for members of the National African American Reparations Commission Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the SUNO Conference Center.

The reception will feature the following special guests: Danny Glover, actor; Samia Nkrumah, Ghanaian politician; Mireille Fanon Mendes-France, member of the UN Working Group on People of African Descent; and Dr. Julianne Malveaux, labor economist, author, commentator and former president of Bennett College.

In addition, cultural expressions will be provided by Sullivan Dabney Jr. & The Muzik Jazz Band, Chief Shaka Zulu and Michael “Quess” Moore.

Susan Henry, general manager of WBOK Radio Station, will serve as the mistress of ceremonies, and Dr. Clyde Robertson, director of the SUNO Center for African and African American Studies, will serve as host.

There is no charge for this event, but guests are asked to come prepared to make a tax-deductible donation to support the work of the National African American Reparations Commission. RSVP via e-mail at or call 504-363-1108.
