SUNO Collects Food for Hurricane Relief

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) is collecting nonperishable food items to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Until Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, the community may drop off items, such as canned goods, cereal, rice or water, at the SUNO Conference Center, located at 6400 Press Drive, New Orleans, LA 70126 (the corner of Press Drive and Bashful Boulevard). Items may be dropped off from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

In addition, the community can make contributions to a special 2017 Texas Flood Fund established by the Southern University System Foundation to accept donations that will go directly to support victims of the devastating flooding in Texas and Southwest Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Use the following link to make a contribution:

"I am asking everyone to wholeheartedly participate in this effort,'' said SUNO Chancellor Lisa Mims-Devezin. “We can feel the pain that the Hurricane Harvey victims are going through because we have gone through the same process as a result of Hurricane Katrina. That’s why we want to offer as much help as we can.”
