MISSION

The purpose of the Management Information Systems Department is to provide Southern University at New Orleans students with high quality, “state-of-the-art” MIS programs.  The BS-MIS program provides students with a foundation in the dual functional areas of business and computing technologies, thus enabling graduates to pursue both technical and managerial careers in all types of organizations, both public and private.

The program also implements processes and procedures that facilitate the retention and nurturing of MIS majors throughout their matriculation at SUNO.  It builds on the core of the College of Business Public Administration (CBA) in preparing students for social and technical analyses, design, development, implementation, and management of computer-based systems. In addition, the department also supports the mission of the University to create and maintain an environment conducive to learning and growth for all members of the university community and the community at large.
